2012 OLYMPICS

Events on the Road to the Olympics

Mark Strube is committed to sailing excellence as well as leadership. In recent years, Mark Strube has participated successfully in many sailing regattas. Full time professional crewing has allowed Mark to hone his skills in sail trim, tactics, strategy, awareness of position on the course and race course weather patterns. He is away from his home base preparing for and participating in regattas about 200 days per year. The best way to keep up with Mark is to follow him on Facebook. His page provides information about present and past regattas. Mark provides short commentary and posts pictures about his present location. His Sailing Resume provides the history of the places he has been.

He and his skipper George Szabo are sailing for the number one position in the Star Class on the 2012 US Olympic Sailing Team. To earn the privilege of representing America at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Mark and George must have the best combined score at the two qualifying events:

You may follow Mark and George on the above sites and check this US Sailing web site frequently as our sailors move toward the 2012 Summer Olympics:

The ISAF is the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) is the organizing authority that regulates and sanctions all international sailing competitions: http://www.sailing.org/

The ISAF tracks results from all sanctioned regattas for Olympic Class sailboats. Follow the rankings for the Star Class sailors after each international event: http://www.sailing.org/15_9490.php?includeref=ranking3760&rankdiscipline=2&ranktype=2&rankclass=92&rankdate=latest

The path to the Olympics is complicated and difficult. The physical, mental and financial stress are at times overwhelming. The US Sailing document prescribing the process for qualifying for the US Olympic Sailing Team is presented below:
